Gland Excision
Gland excision
Gynecomastia gland excision is a surgical procedure aimed at removing excess glandular tissue from the male breast, a condition known as gynecomastia. This condition can result in enlarged breast tissue, which may cause psychological distress or discomfort.
The excision procedure typically involves making an incision around the areola or in a less visible area of the breast. Through this incision, the surgeon removes the excess glandular tissue and, in some cases, fatty tissue. The goal of the surgery is to create a flatter, more contoured chest appearance.
Gynecomastia gland excision is generally considered for individuals who have not responded to nonsurgical treatments or who experience significant physical discomfort. Post-operative recovery may involve some swelling and bruising, and results can take several weeks to fully manifest. As with any surgical procedure, potential risks and complications should be discussed with a healthcare provider prior to surgery.
