Not sure about this one, as I didn’t think I could tolerate any type of massage for several weeks. By the time I reached out to a practitioner at 7-weeks post-surgery for a lymphatic massage, it was great. A noticed a reduction in the amount of swelling around the treated area and felt as if it helped. The massage did not hurt and I’ll reiterate that I don’t know if I would have been physically comfortable with a lymphatic massage any earlier in recovery.

Lymphatic massage is often considered in the recovery process following gynecomastia surgery. It is thought to assist in reducing swelling, improving lymphatic drainage, and promoting overall healing. However, the scientific evidence supporting its effectiveness specifically after gynecomastia surgery is limited.
Some studies suggest that lymphatic massage can help manage postoperative swelling and may enhance recovery in general. The primary mechanism is believed to involve the stimulation of lymphatic flow, which may aid in the removal of excess fluids and promote healing.
The anecdotal evidence provided by patients often indicates a subjective improvement in comfort and recovery time when lymphatic massage is included in their post-surgery care. However, clinical trials that systematically evaluate the benefits of lymphatic massage for gynecomastia surgery recovery specifically are not robust.
For those considering lymphatic massage after gynecomastia surgery, it is essential to consult with a healthcare provider. They can offer personalized recommendations based on the patient's unique situation and recovery needs.
